The price, the coverage, the claim rules —
all public. Nobody opened them.
Every insurer files three things with your state before it sells you a policy: what it charges, what it covers, and how it pays a claim. One actuary and seven AI machines downloaded 50,341 filings, rebuilt the prices, and read the policies line by line. Every answer shows the filing it came from.

Three things you have a right to know
What it costs. What it covers. How you get paid.
Everyone buying insurance asks the same three questions, in every country. The answers are already in the public record — in the rate filing and in the policy. We open both.
1 · What it costs
Every price the insurer filed
Every deductible, reimbursement and limit an insurer files in your state — priced for your pet, today and at every age to 14.
93.1% of 726,477 pet price options land within 0.2% of the real price.
2 · What it covers
64 questions, answered from the policy
Cancer, hereditary conditions, both knees, dental illness, exam fees, rehab — covered, excluded or conditional, each with the policy's own words.
487 current pet policy forms, read line by line.
3 · How you get paid
The claim rules, before you need them
How long you have to file, what to send, whether the vet can be paid directly, how fast the insurer must pay — and what to do if you disagree.
316 of 487 pet policy forms set a deadline for paying you. 171 don't say.

Rate alerts
Know before your premium changes.
Insurers must file rate changes with your state before they charge them. We read every filing and email you when one affects you.
Checked, not estimated
We prove the math against real prices.
A formula is only worth something if it reproduces what the insurer actually charges. So we test each one against real prices — held back from the build wherever we have enough of them — and show, state by state, what has and hasn't been checked.

How it works
From a state filing to your price.
Read the filing
Before charging anyone, an insurer files its rates with your state. They're public record.
Rebuild the formula
Base rate, age, breed, area, deductible — every factor, in the order the insurer applies it.
Check it
We run it against real prices, held back from the build wherever we can. What isn't verified yet is labeled that way.
Show the source
Every price carries the filing number it came from. You can open the original.

What a quote page won't tell you
The lowest price today isn't the lowest later.
Same dog, same coverage, three or more insurers: in more than half the cases, the insurer with the lowest price at age 1 no longer has it at age 10.

How we work
One actuary. A fleet of AI.
Seven ordinary computers.
No data-entry team, no offshore office. One credentialed actuary directs AI that finds, reads, rebuilds and checks every filing, around the clock. Here is the line every price goes through — and who does each step.

Questions
Do you sell insurance?
No. K.Actuary is not an insurance agency, broker or insurer. We show prices rebuilt from public filings; when you're ready, you buy directly from the insurer.
Where do the prices come from?
From the rate filings insurers submit to state insurance regulators, most of them through the SERFF system. Each price on our site shows the filing number it came from.
How accurate are they?
We test every formula against real prices, held back from the build wherever we have enough of them. For pet insurance, 93.1% of 726,477 price options land within 0.2% of the real price. Where a formula doesn't match, we say so and hold the price back.
Where do the coverage and claim answers come from?
From the policy form the insurer filed with your state. We read each policy in full, answer 64 coverage questions and the claim rules, and show the exact sentence each answer rests on. Where we haven't linked a brand to its policy yet, we say “not read yet” — never “not covered”. The policy you receive is what counts.
Will my price be exactly this?
It can differ. Insurers may apply underwriting, discounts or fees outside the filing, and filings change. Treat our number as the filed price, and confirm with the insurer.
Do you need my email or phone number?
Not to see prices — every price is free to see without contact details. We ask for an email address only if you sign up for rate alerts; then we keep your email, state and the lines you picked, and write when a filing affects you. Unsubscribe anytime.
How do you make money?
Comparing prices is free for you. We plan to offer data services to insurers. If we ever receive compensation that could affect what you see, we will disclose it on our Disclosures page.
What does your state's filing say?
Takes about a minute. Pick what you want to insure.
